Hi, I have just installed the newspad with access database. It works fine except on two email points.
When i attempt to "send preview email" with a hotmail.com email i get a 500 server error. It works fine with a domain based email address.
the same occurs when a user signs up to the newsletter with a hotmail email address. This is a problem as many users will not have domain emails.
Is there some problem here or a set up condition?
Thanks for any help
Richard

It sounds like the mail server that you are using requires authentication to relay emails to a non-local email address.

You should contact your mail server admin for the correct settings to relay email to non local mailboxes.

Thanks Bruce, I am on webwiz hosting and you got me looking at the mail component again. It works fine now if i use jmail version 4+ but not with just jmail.
Thanks again
Richard

JMail 4 supports authentication, while versions of JMail before version 4 do not.

If you selected to use the older version of JMail it would not use authentication when sending the email and thus give you an error when trying to relay to non local mailboxes.
